Safed Old Jewish Cemetery Database
The Safed Old Jewish Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in Israel. The cemetery has been used for hundreds of years as a burial site to place Jews, including prominent figures of Jewish heritage. The cemetery is located along the western slope of Safed on the slope of Mount Canaan near Amud River.
This database returns a list of more than 3400 names compiled throughout many years by researchers who visited the cemetery. They transcribed names, dates and most relevant genealogical information from the existing headstones. However, due to harsh weather conditions many headstones have since been damaged or cannot possibly be read.
